Pocket-sized gadget saves devices from over-charging

Did you know that if you leave your gadgets on charge after the battery's full, you could still be using energy?

A new pocket-sized piece of kit can help you save electricity – and therefore money and carbon emissions – by keeping track of all the devices you have plugged in at once. It's called charggee, and all you do is plug it into your wall charger, power bank or computer, select a time limit for charging and it'll disconnect it at the selected time. Sounds like easy-pops.

The makers say the portable USB device also protects gadgets from damage from a power surge, should there be one.

A crowdfunding campaign for charggee (from £10) is just about to end having exceeded its target, with shipping expected in May.
