Absinthe might be a bit much first thing in the morning (or any time), but Magic Organic Apothecary's new hand and lip balm contains just an extract of this anise-flavoured botanical spirit, enough to give you a little lift.
In fact, the wormwood in la fée verte (the green fairy), is antibacterial, anti-fungal and has antioxidant properties. It's just one of the almost magical botanicals in the new dual-purpose balm, designed for dry hands and lips.
MOA's hero ingredient, yarrow root, also makes an appearance, as do caster oil, shea and cocoa butter to moisturise, candelilla wax for a nourishing, protective coating that's suitable as a base for lipstick, and stevia for a sweet flavour. Grapefruit, lemon peel, peppermint, fennel and aniseed makes it smell amazing.
The Green Fairy Hand & Lip Balm (£13.50) is vegan-friendly, contains some organic and all natural ingredients, and is plastic-free – it comes in a gorgeous little tin and a card sleeve inspired by 19th century Parisians' favourite spirit.
