New basics collection pops its cherry

I Am Not A Virgin launch collection

I Am Not A Virgin (IANAV) has launched exclusively online, presenting a collection of basic T-shirts and sweatshirts made using recycled polyester, cotton and rayon, plus two plastic bottles per garment.

IANAV cites figures stating that it takes 500 years for a plastic bottle to decompose and 90 per cent of pollution that makes its way into the sea from land is plastic material. To combat this, the fashion brand is in the process of developing a yarn that uses 100 per cent polyethylene terephthalate (PET – the type of plastic used for bottles) combined with discarded rice husks, as an alternative to cotton.

The range is varied and very wearable, in shades of black, grey and stone.

"People tend to think of eco clothing as ugly and uncomfortable but our brand proves it is sexy, soft and a high-performing fabric," says the label's founder.
