Supermarket style gets recycled at Asda

Bottles have taken the leap from the drinks aisles to the homewares department in Asda, which has announced its new George Home cushions and throws have been made from recycled plastic bottles. Furthermore, its fashion range features blouses and dresses (below) made using fabric from recycled polyester clothing.Asda recycled bottle fabric dress

The supermarket chain has announced several sustainability pledges alongside the new product launches, including sourcing only certified sustainable viscose and sustainable cotton by 2025, giving its customers info on how to care for, repurpose, reuse or recycle their clothes, and committing to publish a strategy on microfibres (the teeny bits of plastic that come off clothes in the washing machine and end up in the sea).

The George website will also make public details of more of its suppliers on its website, specifically the second tier apparel factories that deal with dyeing, printing and finishing garments.
