They said it was impossible: Wagamama veganises katsu curry

Wagamama vegan katsu curry

Wagamama's experiments at its Soho test kitchen seem to have paid off, with its trial vegan katsu curry hitting menus across the UK. And it's not just tasty, we're told; it's being called The Impossible Curry because nine out of ten customers who've tried it said they 'cannot believe it isn’t meat'.

The high-street eatery's Executive Chef Steve Mangleshot switched out chicken – the classic base for this Japanese favourite – for vegan-friendly seitan for the new dish.

He says: "Following the huge success of our vegan menu it made sense for us to create a vegan version of our world-renowned katsu curry. Vegan, vegetarian, V-curious and flexitarian customers will be amazed by how similar it tastes to the original and iconic katsu. We are delighted to bring this new dish to our fans across the UK."
