Pret is to turn one of its London cafes into a vegetarian-only branch for the month of June as part if its new Not Just for Veggies campaign.
The Soho store will offer new vegetarian and vegan dishes, developed by Pret's chefs to show that meat-free foods are tasty and beneficial for everyone. Two new vegetarian Chef's Specials will also be available across Pret each month throughout the summer.
"Our takings in the shop will probably drop, but the pop-up will signal that Pret is serious about providing veggie and vegan options. And who knows, we might just find the next bestseller in the process," says Pret a Manger CEO Clive Schlee in a blog.
The Not Just for Veggies campaign follows a call for feedback from Pret's customers, which elicited nearly 10,000 responses with an emphasis on clearer labelling and more vegetarian options.
Pret has also added a bunch of new vegan items to its menu, including Acai Breakfast Bowl (£2.49), Dairy-Free Bircher breakfast bowl (£2.49), Chana Chaat Flat Bread (£3.75), Mushroom and Avo Sushi Salad (£4.50) and Red Tapenade and Avo SuperBowl (£4.50).
New vegetarian options include Kitchen Garden Salad (£4.50), Falafel and Halloumi Hot Wrap (£4.25) and new cookie flavours (£1.25).
