Recipe: Spicy avocado dip

Avocado dip

By Morwenna Kearns

Avocado toast made with this dip has been declared the world's best. It was deemed superior to all other avocado toasts in 2016 with no others coming close since. This was by a very hungover person, so take from that what you will, but it is delicious – especially if you're into spice.

1 avocado (or half, if it's particularly big)
1/2 tsp wasabi or horseradish paste
1 tsp jalapeño peppers, chopped
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp olive oil
Sprinkle of shichimi togarashi (Japanese seven spice seasoning) or chilli powder
Small handful of seeds (pumpkin, linseed, sunflower, etc)
1/2 tsp sesame seeds
Toasted bread or pitta

Scoop out the flesh of the avocado and mash it up with the wasabi paste, jalapeños, salt, black pepper, olive oil and shichimi togarashi.

Spread it on some tasty wholemeal toast or prep it as a dip for pitta soldiers.

Sprinkle on the seeds, sesame seeds and a bit more shichimi togarashi and pepper.

Serve with salad and/or hummus on toast for an extra fruit and veg portion.
