Last week Jamie Oliver posted a Twitter poll asking who makes their own bread. From nearly 7,000 respondents 35 per cent said 'Nope, too much effort' and another 35 per cent said 'When I have time…'. But how much effort is it really, and how long does it take?
It's Real Bread Week, so it's a good time to find out (24 per cent of Jamie's respondents said they simply didn't know how). Author and Virtuous Bread founder Jane Mason has flagged up her series of short videos teaching beginners how to bake bread, guiding you from how to proof yeast, how to knead, how to shape a basic loaf and how to know when it's done.
