Embroidery is having a bit of a moment, and it's easy to see why with the latest creations from Fine Cell Work. It's a social enterprise and prison rehabilitation programme that teaches needlepoint and embroidery to 450 prisoners each year, resulting in new skills and some covetable designs.
There are some gorgeously traditional Christmas gifts this year, like lavender bags decorated with a hollyhock design and a turkey tree decoration, but Fine Cell Work really comes into its own with its more alternative designs.
Check out the purse emblazoned with the word 'Swag', cushions embroidered with bright geometric patterns or the London skyline and, best of all (IMHO), the tattoo-inspired bags and cushions.
This Christmas, Fine Cell Work has collaborated with Cath Kidston to provide a free 20-year anniversary tea towel with every five packs of its festive Heart & Birds tattoo motif card design (below).
