Watch this: Wet wipes turn nasty

Marine Conservation Society wet wipe monster

Will you encounter something nasty on your beach holiday this summer? This fun film from the Marine Conservation Society's 2016 campaign reveals the wet wipe monster lurking on beaches along our country's coastline.

It's there partly because brands and retailers all too often label wet wipes as 'flushable', but that doesn't mean they're biodegradable – they survive the sewers and wash up on our beaches.

This June the Marine Conservation Society is calling on us all to take on the Plastic Challenge: giving up single-use plastics, just for one day, one week or the whole month. This could include ditching wet wipes, preventing some little monsters creeping out of the sand.
