Done your Christmas shopping yet? No problemo: a pop-up department store is about to open in London, bringing together fabulous British brands and creatives with an emphasis on sustainability.
Opening in Shoreditch between December 11th and 16th, the Sustainable Department Store is the brainchild of social enterprise Blue Patch. The predominantly online platform for sustainable luxury shopping is going out into the real world to sort out the 'decidedly shaky' UK economy and impact of climate change, it says. Blue Patch opened its first pop-up concept store in Dulwich in 2016 and it's high time for another one.
The Shoreditch department store will certainly tackle what to get the fam for Christmas. You'll find furniture from Brighton design company Baines & Fricker, tweed clothing by London's Cock & Bull, reflective wear from local startup Glow and lots more lovely things to buy.
There will also be workshops hosted by Bethnal Green social enterprise Juta, which trains and employs local women in shoemaking, events providing info on living more sustainably, and a bit of pampering each evening with music, fizz and organic wellbeing.
