Lush opens 'coffee shop with an agenda' in London

Rather than passing the buck on coffee cups, how about you #carrythecup instead? That's the name of Change Please and Lush's pop-up vegan coffee shop opening in London this week, 'with an agenda' to drive a discussion about coffee cup waste.

Opening on August 14th and running for four weeks (except weekends), the cafe at the Lush Soho Studio on Beak Street won't be selling any drinks but will be giving away free hot coffee, iced coffee or tea to anyone who fancies one – as long as they have a reusable cup.

Furthermore, there'll be 500 limited edition reusable coffee cups (£12), each actually made from six used cups, available to buy from #carrythecup.

"By transforming our front exhibition space in to a friendly coffee shop, we want to invite London locals and visitors inside for a free cup of coffee (or tea) and an informative discussion on how to ditch the single-use coffee cup, and learn to #carrythecup," explains Lush Soho Studio Manager, Michael O'Brien.

"Beyond cosmetics, there are habits we can break and simple changes we can make to reduce or remove single-use plastic from our lives."
